Stationery

You may think the usual standard wedding invitation cards are the only piece of wedding stationery you will need to organise - and indeed this could be true, but there is a huge array of cards you can choose form, including

- Save the date cards: a pre invitation, warning for your guests to keep your chosen date free. Great for guests who are coming form overseas or indeed if you plan to marry abroad. You will need to give you potential guests plenty of time to save for a holiday!

- Hen and Stag invitations: a little formal maybe, but you can actually send your hens/stags postal invitaions. Although most correspondence between friends is generally done by email formal invitations may add a glamorous twist if the venue is a day at the races or at a health spa!

- Place setting cards: helping your gusts find their dinning spot and stop any last minute seating catastrophes! Chances are you will have sweated long and hard over where to seat everyone (some people swear this is the most stressful part of planning a wedding!) You can even incorporate a large seating map at the entrance of your dining location. Menus placed on the tables are a nice touch - although if the budget is wearing thin it's not a necessity.

- Order of service: You can supply your guests with an order of service cards enabling them to follow the wedding service, including any hymns you have chosen. Talk to your vicar/ministor regarding all details.

You can place your order for thank you cards at the same time as ordering your wedding stationery, this will follow your wedding theme nicely through to the end!

Card wording

Browsing online will give you an idea of the huge choice of designs and wordings you can get. Depending on who is 'hosting' the wedding will affect your wording. Things can get complicated when the bride or the grooms parents are divorced, You could be looking at 4 sets of parents all contributing towards the cost of the wedding.

A popular option in this scenario is for the bride and groom to 'host' the event. Most details you need to include on your invitations are obvious when, where and at what time, but don't forget to include any dress code requirements and if children are invited, you can also add any wedding gift lists/requests you may have. Ideally invitaions should be sent out anytime from 3 months before the big day.
