A guide to Torremolinos

This Costa del Sol resort has been attracting tourists for decades. Its clean coastline and renowned evening party action ensures they still keep coming! Follow our quick resort run down below.

Resort

The resort of Torremolinos has been undergoing a bit of a face lift in the last few years.  Unfortunately the high rise concrete developments have not been demolished - but, green areas have started to spring up.  An unbelievable amount of trees and plants have been invested in to give the area a more cosmopolitan feel.

In the centre of town is the Calle San Miguel, a pedestrianised street which is filled with shops and cafes.  The Calle San Miguel leads down to the old fishing area and onto the beach.  It’s a popular place to take a stroll and enjoy the cafes and bars along this route.

Beaches

In total there are six beaches along the coastline of Torremolinos.  The seafront promenade (Paseo Maritimo) meanders along them.  Even with 7kms of sandy beaches finding a free sandy spot during the summer months can still be hard going!  This is where the real touristy Torremolinos comes into its own.  There are bars, souvenir shops, restaurants and hotel blocks galore - there is nothing quaint about it – but its all good fun.  All Kinds of water sports are on offer at the beach, loungers and umbrellas can be hired for the day.

Going westwards past the Castillo De Santa Clara is the beach area of La Cariheula.  This area has a good beach and some fantastic seafood restaurants.

The Marina also has some lovely cafes and restaurants - some with some great views.  Surprisingly it's also home to many of Torremolinos's lively bars and clubs.
