Prague restaurants – Not just dumplings!
Goulash and dumplings is the kind of cuisine Prague may be renowned for but today you will also find French, Argentinean, Mexican and Italian restaurants springing up all over the place.
Welcome variety?Slowly Prague is creeping up the culinary ladder. Dumplings, rich sauces and meat are the traditionally the norm and you can find some excellent restaurants serving local menus. Gradually overseas influences are creeping in, hence the Chinese, Mexican and steakhouses – most getting a warm welcome from tourists and locals alike. Even Vegetarian restaurants are getting more popular in this once meat only city!
Restaurants & CafesPrague’s café culture has been around for decades originally giving writers and poets in this Bohemian city a place to sit and ponder! Today tourists and locals alike enjoy coffee and cake whilst soaking up Prague’s atmosphere. Some of the grand cafes are located in beautiful historic buildings.Although restaurants and cafes can be found all over Prague the centre of this city is full of eateries. Of course enjoying a view of the Charles Bridge over lunch is going to cost a little extra! If you are on a budget then keep walking past the tourist haunts and you will stumble across cafes and restaurants your wallet will approve of. Some top stops we approve of: Grand Café Praha (Old Town) – Located in the heart of the old town this traditional café is very popular with tourists and local alike. Cream cakes to die for!Radost Café (Praha 2) – Popular vegetarian restaurant serving great veggie burgers as well as other things! Day café closes at around 5pm, at night the café becomes part to Rabost FX Club serving great food until around 4am. Good vibe.Cowboy’s steaks and cocktails (Mala Strana) – New steakhouse partly housed in a wine cellar. During the summer months you can eat in the roof top garden, with great views over Prague. Good fun restaurant – at weekends a DJ gives the restaurant a real buzz.
