A guide to Magalluf
Over the years the two resorts of Magalluf and Palma Nova have slowly merged into one huge resort. Magalluf is still the liveliest with the most bars and clubs but now it can be hard to tell the dividing line between the two.
The resort can seem a bit of a maze at first but after a while you will realise its very easy to get your bearings. Both resorts have tourist information offices that have great street maps that will help.
By day the resort of Magalluf is all about the beach, by night the restaurants, bars and clubs. Whatever time of day during the summer season the whole resort is always buzzing. The restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars are busy all day long.Magalluf beachThe resort of Magalluf is set alongside the stunning Magalluf Beach. This long and wide bay is sandy (cleaned regularly) and slopes gently into the clear Mediterranean waters. Sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired for the day and watersports are available in the high season.
Although the beach is large, during the summer months it can still get very busy, if you are looking for a little extra leg room then its worth checking out the slightly quieter beaches in Palma Nova. Along the beach you will find plenty of cafes, restaurants and supermarkets. At the far end of the beach (towards the Torrenova headland) you will find El Ultimo Paraiso II which offers use of a small pool with sun beds for a daily charge - great if sand is not your thing!Main stripRunning behind the beach you will find the Punta Balena the main 'strip' of Magalluf. Here the road is lined with many restaurants and crammed with the famous bars and pubs in Magalluf. Always rammed in the summer evenings, this is the start of the nightlife and at the top of the hill you will find the majority of the Magalluf clubs. This area is the Torrenova headland which separates Magalluf and Palma Nova with fabulous viewing points across the Magalluf and Palma Nova bays. It is here too that one of our favourite and most reccommended Magalluf hotel, The Sotavento is located.Daytime alternativesMagalluf also has plenty of alternative daytime activities. At the far end of Magalluf's beach (away from Palma Nova) you can try your hand at go karting at Magalluf's premier karting venue, located a short distance outside of the resort. They have a large track with a separate children's circuit. Refreshments are available. Aqua land is located in the same area. This large waterpark has slides, shoots, wave pools and a big swimming area. A great day out for everyone but just remember the sun screen guys.
