Barcelona’s Restaurants

Catalans take food very seriously breakfast, lunch and dinner are all important parts of the day and their social life. Traditional Tapas restaurants let you enjoy tasty morsels at the bar washed down with a few drinks. They have also embraced the multicultural cuisine now on offer in Barcelona including Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Japanese to name a few.

A local tradition

As dining out is such a favoured past time here in Barcelona you will see cafes, restaurants and Tapas bars on every street. Choice is huge, you will never need to dine at the same venue twice (unless you really want to!) Prices as always tend to be higher around the main tourist drags. You only need to walk for a few moments to find a good restaurant that’s kinder to your budget.

As many locals still participate in the tradition of an afternoon siesta lunch is normally around 2-4pm with dinner starting at around 9pm. You will find though that many restaurants are looking to close their kitchens at around 11pm.

Fave eats

If the sun’s shinning then for a good budget option try the deli counter at El Corte Ingles (Placa Catalunya), a famous department store with a stunning food hall. Find a spot on the beach with a cool drink and enjoy your Catalan picnic! Generally speaking though restaurant prices are not too high – well unless you opt to dine on Las Ramblas!

For a real taste of Tapas try Cuidad Condal (Rambla de Catalunya) – has a large choice of Tapas and beer. Always popular as the food is excellent. Enjoys an outdoor terrace during the summer.

Can Majo (Barceloneta beach front) – Popular seafood restaurant with a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. Great service, wine list and superb seafood dishes.

Baja Beach Club (Villa Olimpic) – Lively restaurant which turns into a great fun club. Ideal for groups especially stag and hen groups looking for somewhere to start the evening early in!

Opollo (Barceloneta beach front) – Chicken and chips with a difference. Fantastic value for money with gorgeous beach front views. Specialty is roast chicken and chips! On a Saturday you can also enjoy cocktails and a DJ. Takeaways also available.
